Time is flying by.

The first month of 2016 has already passed and I am reflecting on what has transpired during the month of January.

I sit here with mixed emotions.

I am mourning the loss of a musical genius, David Bowie, who was my all-time favourite rock star. Although Bowie’s death has me feeling sad, I don’t want to dwell on only the negative things that happened last month so I am focusing on the positive aspects as well.

Some of the positive ones are that I worked with many clients helping them organize their homes, and helped other clients pack and unpack. I am so blessed and absolutely love knowing that I am helping my clients reach their goals. I also forced myself out of my comfort zone (big time) and did 3 presentations and appeared on a local television show. What a whirlwind of emotions for me this month.

My clients also had a whirlwind of emotions.

Those with clutter problems found it tough to let go of some of their items. They felt overwhelmed and some even had anxiety, but they did it and I am so proud of them. The clients that were getting ready for their move, or did move and needed me to be there for the movers and help them unpack, also felt overwhelmed with the amount of work that needed to be done.

One client told me he was having a hard time sleeping at night because of all that needed to be done.

I suggested that he start writing down what he wants done, and I gave him a list of tasks that he could do prior to his move. Having everything written down helped this client focus and get his mind organized. I asked him if he was still having problems sleeping and he said “no, I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel”. I was thrilled to hear that.

If you find yourself with mixed emotions, and would like to get your mind organized, try these steps:

1. Write down everything that is stressing you and all tasks that need be done
2. Number them in order of importance or in sequence of events
3. Schedule dates of when you would like to have them completed
4. Cross them off as you complete them
5. Reward yourself! You completed your tasks so don’t forget to do something special for yourself.

By following those simple steps, it will help your mind get organized and help you feel less stressed. It works for me and my clients so it should work for you too!

How was your first month of 2016? Did you accomplish your goals?

Cheers to an amazing February and all the best for 2016!

Until next time,
Kathy
