Spring Clearing
I love spring because it means summer is coming. It may be still cold out but we will be getting warmer weather soon, so now is a great time to do your spring clearing and getting your home organized. If you do it now, you will be able to relax and enjoy the summer months. Sounds pretty good, right?
Here are 10 tips that I hope you will find helpful.
Trust me, if you accomplish all these tasks, or most of them, you will feel great. I always say that being organized is like a breath of fresh air and it is so true!
1. Declutter
take 10 minutes a day to declutter. Try to find at least one or two items a day to donate. At the end of the month, drop off your donations.
2. Clothes
Pack up and donate or consign the winter clothes you no longer wear. Rotate your winter and spring/summer clothes. When going through your summer clothes, if you notice anything you didn’t wear last summer, let it go.
3. Say goodbye to expired items
Go through you medicine cabinet and anything expired, toss it out. Expired prescriptions usually can be dropped off at your local drug store. Also, say goodbye to expired food and make-up.
4. Clear the Car
Take time out of your busy schedule to clean out your car. Remove all garbage, clean the inside and outside of your car, make sure to keep garbage bags in your car so garbage does not end up on the floor, and use a trunk organizer to keep your emergency and everyday items that you need.
5. Clean out your wallet and purse
Take a few minutes and clean out your wallet, leaving just the essentials that you need ex. Debit or credit cards. The following day, take a few minutes and clean out your purse.
6. Delete
Take a few minutes and delete photos you no longer want off your phone, laptop or IPad. Do the same for emails. Delete any emails you no longer need.
7. Freezer food
Go through your freezer and toss out any expired food.
8. Deep clean
I know this can be very overwhelming, so pick one room a week and tackle it. You will feel so much better when it is cleared, clean and organized.
9. Make a to-do list and share
Write down your organizing goals. Schedule these tasks into your calendar and tell a friend what you plan on doing and when. This will help you be accountable for your actions.
10. Ask for help
If you are just too overwhelmed and find you are not able to complete your tasks, ask a friend or family member to help you. If that is not possible, consider hiring a professional organizer to help you complete your goals. You will be surprised at how much can be accomplished when having help.
So what task are you going to tackle first? Do you have any tips that you would like to share? Leave a comment below. I would love to hear from you.
Happy Organizing,
Kathy
